The Antipodes

New Zealand is situated in the South Pacific Ocean . The country runs roughly north-south with mountain ranges down much of its length. There are two main islands, the North Island and the South Island, with a third smaller island in the south.

New Zealand is in the Pacific Rim of Fire.It has an unique landscape and an unrivalled variety of landforms:snow-topped mountain ranges, sandy beaches, lush rainforests, glaciers and fiords, and active volcanoes.
It is an uncrowded country. It has a diverse multi-cultural population of just 4 million people and a rich history. Maori were New Zealand’s first settlers, arriving here about 1,000 years ago. It was first discovered by Europeans in 1642 but it wasn’t until 1769 that it was colonised and claimed by Britain. In 1840,this country was considered a nation.

I invite you to find out more things about this wonderfull place:flora and fauna, Maori people and tattoos,...
What is the meaning of "antipodes"?

Reflection and refraction of light

Firstly, you can see some coloured rays leaving a black wheel.
After that, a person fills the container with water.
If the wheel is turned to the left, light passes from water to air and changes its direction. When light goes from a dense matter(water) to another sparse matter(air), light seems to bend.It is the refraction of light.
If the wheel is turned to the right, light hits the edge between water and air.At this moment light is reflected inside the water as well as a mirror.
You can observe this process every time a ray gets the surface of water. It is the reflection of light.
Pay attention to the video!

Did you understand the difference between reflection and refraction of light?
I hope so!

Africa welcomes the spring

Nature change every spring...Animals and plants enjoy the new season

The five senses

Traditonally, there are five senses: sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. Our Knowledge of the outside world depends on our modes of perception. In order to define what is extrasensory we need to define what is sensory. The five senses consist of organs with specialized cells that have receptors for specific stimuli. These cells have links to the nervous system and thus to the brain. Sensing is done at primitive levels in the cells and integrated into sensations in the nervous system.
